Jerry Vaughns

June 29, 1964 - January 8, 2026

Jerry Vaughns was born on June 29, 1964, in Altadena, California to Mr. Edward Vaughns Jr., and Mrs. Tulene Vaughns. Raised in a close-knit family, he attended Marshall High School, where he excelled in football and track & field, and later trained as a plumber — a trade through which he served his community with pride and care.

Jerry was a devoted father to his sons, Jerry Jr., Jahi, and Khari, a loving life partner to Mary “Cookie” Mathis-Hargett, a brother to Ricky, Renee, Marvin, Eddie, Tina and Regina, and uncle to his nieces and nephews. Known for his warm smile, unmistakable presence, and for showing up for others, Jerry embraced family in all its forms and became a proud Grandpa to Jurnee and Juelz, and Pop-Pop to Sebastian, Noah, and Valentina.

Jerry left us on January 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Vaughns Jr. and Tulene Vaughns, and his older brother, Edward Vaughns II. Jerry’s love, strength, and spirit live on in the many lives he touched.
